This vast influx of information is delivered mostly through print and electronic media, and in more recent times, through the internet. However, while the massive inflow and unprecedented accessibility of information is welcomed by all and sundry, it is our view, that this trend should be viewed in more cautionary terms.
Tangibly speaking, given its immense potential and utility as propaganda tool, the media today as emerged as one of the essential bulwarks that sustain, legitimize and indeed perpetuate the existing oppressive and suffocative status quo. Given its immense power to shape a widening range of public space and discourse, it is imperative to critically analyze the role of the corporate or mainstream media. This analysis is all the more crucial in order to reclaim the inalienable right of mankind to free and unadulterated knowledge.
