Established in 1966, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. ADB extends loans and equity investments to its developing member countries (DMCs) for their economic and social development. It also provides technical assistance for the planning and execution of development projects and programs and promotes and facilitates investment of public and private capital for development.

The Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan) was established in 1969. It is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The Foundation is a private, international, non-profit, non-denominational, development agency. It seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor areas. Its main areas of focus are health, education, rural development and the enhancement of non-governmental organizations.

The Aga Khan Education Services, Pakistan operates in the province of Sindh and across the Northern Areas and Chitral district in the Northwest Frontier Province. AKES, P’s work is focused on two major areas: school improvement (quality) and access to education in remote areas (particularly for girls). Through funding from donor agencies, AKES, P provides technical assistance and training to government staff and teachers in the Northern Areas and continues to experiment with models for community-managed schools.

AKU- HDP aims to enhance human development focusing mainly on Early Childhood Development to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty, illiteracy and poor care that inhibits later learning, behaviour, and mental and physical health. It undertakes parenting programs on the unborn child and the early years till school entry. It also takes advocacy and constituency-building initiatives to inform and influence policy on matters related to ECD and human development, at the government, donor agency and civil society level.

Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), an integral part of Aga Khan University (AKU), was established in 1993. The Institute's mandate is to contribute towards education reforms for enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of education programmes/institutions in the developing countries, particularly in Pakistan. Within a short period of time, it has emerged as a 'national resource' for building institutional capacity of education systems through education, conducting research, promoting scholarship, offering innovative teaching programmes and influencing education policy and practice.
AKU-IED's efforts focus primarily on enhancing professional knowledge, and skills and status of teachers, teacher educators and others, who are responsible for successful implementation of educational reforms in Pakistan and other developing countries.

The Behbud Association has been working for the empowerment of communities through the socio-economic uplift of women and children, for the last 30 years. Established since 1970 Behbud has various centers which generate their own funds and are run by a team of very dedicated volunteer ladies. Behbud Association is a registered national organization with head quarters in Rawalpindi and branches in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, Gujranwala, Jhang and D.G Khan. One of the key areas of service by Behbud has been the field of Education. Within this field, the Behbud Association became associated with the SEF as a partner for the provision of education to primarily girls in underprivileged areas.

After the formalization of the World Conservation Strategy in 1980, the Government of Pakistan requested IUCN to help develop a National Conservation Strategy (NCS). After a rather extensive process of, the NCS was eventually completed and approved by the Government of Pakistan in 1992. In 1982, an exploratory mission from the IUCN Headquarters laid the foundation for the IUCN Programme in Pakistan. In 1985, a one person IUCN Country Office was established in Karachi to initiate the implementation of the NCS. Since then IUCN Pakistan has grown into the largest country programme with five programme offices and a number of offices in the field.

The Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, is an independent, non-profit, support organisation. It was established in August 2001 to lead philanthropy promotion in Pakistan. Central to this promotion, remains the effort of mobilising resources from the private sector, in particular the corporate sector for development initiatives. In doing so, the Centre also supplements the government's poverty reduction agenda. The Centre does not engage in direct philanthropy. Instead it seeks to facilitate such efforts of others through support services. These services include action research, policy and legislative reviews and focussed strategies to ensure meaningful collaboration among stakeholders in the philanthropic arena.

The relationship between Pakistan and the Netherlands in the area of development cooperation dates back to 1957 and spans 50 years in 2007. In that period the Netherlands has given more than 550 million Euro as grants to support development in Pakistan and Pakistan is one of the 36 partner countries with which the Netherlands maintains close bilateral relations. Rather than supporting a mosaic of many different projects, the Netherlands aims to support fewer, but larger programs with a more coherent approach to development. Besides coordination with other bilateral donors, the main modalities for cooperation are through government (at different levels), NGO’s and directly with private sector organisations. Multilateral agencies, such as UN, World Bank and Asian Development Bank, are important partners as well.

The Road Sector Development Directorate (RSDD) was established during the end of 2005 to implement the sector reform component of the Sindh Road Sector Development Programme (SRSDP). This programme had been initiated with the assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB) to introduce reforms in the road sector of the province. One of the primary objectives of establishing the RSDD is to convert Works & Services Department (WSD) into a service-oriented department from purely a road construction and maintenance agency.

Shirkat Gah means, ‘place of participation’, and over the last 30 years it has empowered women by increasing their access to information, resources, skills and decision making. In this process Shirkat Gah has brought positive change to policies, laws, and practices. Shirkat Gah has ECOSOC status at the United Nation.

UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on 16 November 1945. For this specialized United Nations agency, it is not enough to build classrooms in devastated countries or to publish scientific breakthroughs. Education, Social and Natural Science, Culture and Communication are the means to a far more ambitious goal : to build peace in the minds of men.

UNICEF’s global activities are guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which govern international standards of behavior towards children, and advocates for the rights of children at the family, community and government levels. UNICEF has been actively working to improve the lives of children and women in Pakistan since 1948. UNICEF is committed to support their full participation in the political, social and economic development of their families & communities. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. It also helps children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.

USAID has been the principal U.S. agency to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms. USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State. It works in close partnership with private voluntary organizations, indigenous organizations, universities, American businesses, international agencies, other governments, and other U.S. government agencies. It provides support in terms of economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and, democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance.
