The Open Society Institute (OSI), a private operating and grant making foundation established by investor and philanthropist George Soros, has been working since 1993 to shape public policy in order to promote democratic governance; human rights; and economic, legal, and social reform. The ‘Improving Quality of Education Programme (IQEP)’ is OSI’s pioneering initiative in Pakistan that reflects the organization’s mandate of intervening with local public or private institutions to enhance the quality of education. OSI, Pakistan is extending monetary as well as technical support for the IQEP for improving educational outcomes. |

Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) is a non-profit organization established to facilitate the public and private sector organizations through assessment, institutional development and certification. The ‘Operational Policy Framework for 3Ps in Education’ prepared by PCP has been owned and notified by Federal Ministry of Education in the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference held in Peshawar on June 10, 2006. PCP’s role as the coordinating agency for the IQEP is in line with its mission of being a catalyst that connects corporate philanthropists / donors with public sector organizations so that the utilized resources can be translated into the well being of people. More specifically PCP’s role in this quality education programme is to ensure smooth implementation through facilitating coordination between program partners and stakeholders, monitoring of the activities and reporting progress to OSI. |

Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) carries extensive experience in engaging the public and private sectors for implementing quality education interventions across the marginalized areas of Sindh province. Quality is seen as a vital component of all educational programs initiated by SEF. The SEF in collaboration with the Department of Education & Literacy, Government of Sindh has pioneered a quality assurance framework through its Quality Assurance Resource Center (QARC). The initiative seeks to enable support to good schooling and learning practices both in the public and private sectors of education.
As the principal implementing organization of IQEP, the SEF seeks to innovate, test and advocate quality education interventions for improving education delivery in target schools which can be used as a model for a larger scale intervention. |
