Free Textbooks for School Children
The SEF provided free textbooks for around 20,000 children enrolled in PPRS Project Phase 1 schools. The customized books have been published by the Oxford University Press for SEF partner schools. Each child received a set of English, Math and Science books and a picture dictionary in English and Sindhi languages. Teachers Guides have also been provided in both the languages to facilitate the teaching and learning process. Dissemination of the textbooks to the 200 schools was carried out in September 2009 on the basis of the enrolment as verified through the inspection survey carried out by the SEF. To facilitate effective and smooth implementation of the curriculum, SEF’s Learning Support Unit has undertaken specialized training for the teachers and is also carrying out learning support visits to each school. |
