Private entrepreneurs can play an integral role in promoting rural schools in Sindh. This was highlighted in the press briefing held in February, 2010 given by Mr. Aziz Kabani (Director, SEF) at Sindh Education Foundation. The press briefing was given to provide details of the launch of PPRS (Promoting Private Schooling in Rural Sindh) Phase II as well as to discuss the wider portfolio of SEF. The briefing informed the media about the opening of 2,500 schools for 50,000 children in Sindh while stating that 200 private schools have already been established under PPRS Phase I. Prof. Anita Ghulam Ali (MD, SEF) also shared programmatic details with the audience and responded to the questions ventured forth by the participants that ranged from general literacy concerns, to the state of education system and the viability of public private partnerships. Both the print and electronic media attended the briefing. Representatives from Tameer e Sindh, Dhoom TV, Mehran TV, Radio Pakistan, Awaz, The Mail, Hilal e Pakistan, Ibrat, Awam, Daily Messenger and PPI were among those who attended. |
