Training for Adult Learning Facilitators in Sukkar
Sindh Education Foundation, in partnership with UNSECO and implementing NGO partner, Sindh Development Society, has established 10 Community Learning Centers in Sukkur that aim to extend educational, self-development and empowerment opportunities to adult women. Through CLCs, SEF envisions to improve participation rate of women in social, economic, cultural and political spheres.

For the purpose of capacity building of the center based Learning Facilitators, a training was conducted in Sukkur from 12th to 17th July, 2010. Prof. Rehana Mughni (Program Advisor, SEF) led the team of trainers from LSU and PSDU during the 6-day sessions. Participants were provided an overview of Community Learning Centers, effective management procedures, community mobilization methods, andragogical techniques, lesson planning, and resource development. Detailed orientation was given on 'Teztareen'- an accelerated syllabus, which will be introduced across the centers for developing primary level competencies in learners. Prof. Mughni, carrying extensive experience in women empowerment and adult education, also demonstrated pedagogy of 'Ujlee Rahein' Qaida. The publication comprises theme-based post literacy materials targeting adult women learners and educators.

To sustain the interest of participants, a number of interactive methodologies were used by the trainers. These included video screening of CLCs operating around the globe, group work, discussions on case studies, role-play and story telling. Moreover, newspaper reading activity was conducted and dialogue among participants regarding that news was encouraged.

The training concluded with a candid feedback session and appreciation certificates were given out to the participants.
