Technology integration in all aspects of our lives has made digital literacy an essential to a person´s sustained economic self-sufficiency. Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) in an initiative to build capacity in regards to technology integration provided a 2 day basic computer course for the teachers of Child Development Center (CDC). This course was conducted in collaboration with Intel at the SEF Head office on the 18th and 19th of July 2011. In attendance were 11 teachers, the CDC principal and program representatives along with the trainer from Intel.
The activity aimed to introduce basic computer skills to the teachers of CDC who can then pass the knowledge on to their students and also to improve the computer based knowledge of the staff members of CDC. Furthermore, it expects to provide adult learners who possess minimal experience with computers, the relevant ICT skills for workforce development and economic self-sufficiency.
The trainees were given an introduction to computers and operating system, use of internet, word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia and email. The session provided hands-on experience to the teachers who performed simple tasks that were relevant to the user and could be immediately applied in the learners´ daily work routines. Certificates were distributed to the participants at the end of the session.
