Only a few years back, SEF had initiated its road safety education program, which was aimed at imparting road safety education in primary schools. Keeping up with the objective of creating awareness about road safety, SEF participated in the 2nd National Road Safety Conference that was held in Karachi in collaboration with Shell Pakistan, Aga Khan University, Road Traffic Injury Research Centre (Ministry of Health) and Indus Motor Company on July 7, 2009. The key note speakers that presided over the event were Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan (Federal Minister of Communication), Dr Rashid Jooma (DG Ministry of Health), Mr Zaiviji Ismail (Managing Director, Shell Pakistan) and Mr Parvez Ghias (CEO, Indus Motor Company) among others. The conference was also attended by regulatory body dignitaries and stakeholders from the corporate, education, health, road traffic systems and the engineering sectors. Mr Aziz Kabani (Director SEF) also participated in the panel discussion that took place at the event and discussed the critical role the education sector can play in creating road safety awareness amongst various segments of road users (including children and adults alike) in the country. |
