practices, their understanding of these practices and the contextually specific situations in which such practices are carried out. The other prominent aim of research, insofar as SEF is concerned, is fostering social change through the systematic collection and collation of information. By surveying and analyzing ground realities, it serves as catalyst for citizen’s action and community mobilization in addition to providing policy makers with much needed information and policy guidelines and recommendations. The two units entrusted with this responsibility are the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) unit and the Education and Development Research Cell (EDRC).
In this objective, the component of advocacy works synonymously with research. Broadly speaking, the aim of SEF’s advocacy is create and raise awareness about social issues in order to bring about an eventual behavioral change in society. Moreover advocacy practices seek to establish linkages that would go a long way in generating technical, human and financial resources for the Foundation’s sustainability and growth as a viable public sector organization. In this regard, SEF has a specialized branch, termed as the Marketing, Advocacy and Publications unit (MAP) that is exclusively geared towards such activities.
